In Chinese astronomy, Regulus is part of the Xuanyuan asterism, which consists of about 17 stars, among them 10 Ursae Majoris, Alpha Lyncis, 38 Lyncis, Kappa Leonis, Alterf (Lambda Leonis), Epsilon Leonis, Rasalas (Mu Leonis), Adhafera (Zeta Leonis), Eta Leonis, Algieba (Gamma Leonis), Subra (Omicron Leonis), and Rho Leonis.
